Biography —
Roberta Pokphanh is the Associate Vice Provost for Student Support and Academic Services. In her role in the International Affairs unit at KU, she works collaboratively with the Senior Internationalization Officer, the Associate Vice Provost for International and Global Engagement, and the Associate Vice Provost for Strategic Partnerships and Innovation in the areas of strategic planning, leadership and comprehensive internationalization. She is responsible for oversight of the student support and academic services areas of International Affairs, including the Applied English Center, International Short Programs, International Support Services, and Study Abroad & Global Engagement. She also oversees International Affairs VE/COIL initiatives.
Roberta has worked at KU since 2003, where she began her career in the Office for Diversity in Science training. She later served as Assistant Dean for Graduate Studies at KU. She earned her doctorate in Art History from the University of Kansas in 2009. She has taught orientation and professional development courses for undergraduate and graduate students, as well as introductory art history. Roberta has served on the board of the Society for the Advancement of Chicanos and Native Americans in Science and as a member of the Native Faculty and Staff Council at the University of Kansas.
