Travel ban impacts international community: KU responds

Effective June 9, a U.S. travel ban will restrict entry for immigrants and nonimmigrants from 12 countries — a full ban on travel, with limited exceptions. Seven other countries are subject to a partial ban that suspends entry into the United States by immigrants and individuals with business, tourism, student and exchange visitor visas.
KU’s International Support Services and Human Resources teams are reaching out to students, faculty and staff to provide guidance. Enrollment Management is also communicating with newly admitted students for fall 2025.
The situation is evolving, and KU is actively working to understand and respond further. Listed below are the offices designated as the first point of contact for affected students, faculty and staff. Please refer inquirers to staff in these offices. KU remains committed to supporting its international community and fostering cross-cultural exchange.
Resources and contacts:
- Students and international scholars: For immigration-related questions, contact International Support Services at iss@ku.edu or 785-864-3617, or visit during drop-in advising hours (weekday afternoons).
- International faculty and staff: Contact HR International Employment.
- For emotional support, students should reach out to Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) and the TELUS Student Support Program.
Faculty and staff may make use of the Employee Assistance Program (EAP).
