2023 International Travel Grants Open for Faculty and Graduate Students
KU International Affairs is accepting proposals and applications for travel grants that support faculty and graduate student research and collaboration abroad. The deadline for submitting proposals and applications is March 9. Grant recipients will be notified by the end of April.

KU Study Abroad & Global Engagement Selected for IIE American Passport Project
This fall, 95 University of Kansas freshman students will receive free U.S. passports as part of the IIE American Passport Project, a grant initiative sponsored by the Institute of International Education. The IIE American Passport Project seeks to promote diversity, inclusion, access and equity in study abroad.

William Collins Receives Fulbright Scholar Award to Finland
William Collins, University of Kansas associate professor of civil, environmental & architectural engineering, has received a Fulbright Scholar Award to conduct research for six months in Finland. Jointly funded by the VTT Technical Research Center of Finland and the Fulbright Finland Foundation, Collins was awarded the Fulbright-VTT Award in Science, Technology, and Innovation.

International Jayhawk Festival will Celebrate KU's Global Community April 19
Connect with the diverse global community at the University of Kansas and discover an abundance of international opportunities at the sixth annual International Jayhawk Festival, which will take place from 3 to 6 p.m. April 19 at the Burge Union. Learn what it means to be a global Jayhawk through activities, games and crafts representing cultures from around the world. Free international snacks and T-shirts will be distributed. Students, staff, faculty and community members are invited to attend the free event.

2021 Woodyard Award recognizes Kapila D. Silva for international work
Kapila D. Silva, professor of architecture at the University of Kansas, is the recipient of the 2021 George and Eleanor Woodyard International Educator Award. Silva will give a talk on what it means to be an international educator at the award presentation and reception, which will be held at 3:30 p.m., Thursday, April 28 at the Kansas Memorial Union in the Malott Room.

James Thompson Receives Fulbright Specialist Award to Portugal
James Thompson, professor of special education at the University of Kansas, has received a Fulbright Specialist Award to lead a series of plenary presentations and workshops in Portugal this semester.
Later this month, Thompson will travel to Portugal for a three-week project with FORMEM, a Portuguese nonprofit organization that develops professional training and employment opportunities for people with disabilities. Thompson’s presentations and workshops will focus on understanding people with developmental disabilities by their support needs, assessing the intensity of people’s support needs, and planning processes that can be used to identify and arrange personalized supports for children in schools and adults in society.
