Title: Evo Morales and Internal Colonialism: State Decolonization
Abstract: The presidential election of Evo Morales in 2006 signified a shift in Bolivian ideology away from neoliberal theory, social and cultural hierarchies, and other remnants of colonialism. Through a new constitution and reformation of governmental structures, the Morales government continues in its attempts to decolonize Bolivia. However, these attempts often fall short and highlight that it is extremely difficult, if not impossible, for a state to decolonize itself.
