Health Insurance

International students at KU are required to have health insurance coverage.  KU’s insurance provider is United HealthCare.  The rates and options for the insurance are here.

Sponsored students who have alternative insurance coverage provided by their sponsor can submit an online insurance waiver request. The health insurance waiver request, if approved, will allow students who already have health insurance policy from their sponsor to opt out of the required KU health insurance policy and charges. More information can be found here or by contacting the Insurance Coordinator at (785) 864-3617 or
