Title: Identity Crisis: The Face of the Republican Party

Abstract: Over the last two semesters, I have chronicled the development of American conservative extremism evidenced so clearly by the current presidential campaigns. I have attempted to provide sound explanations for the unprecedented mood of this election season and the divisive, hateful rhetoric that is so often used by the Republican front runners, especially Donald Trump. In the beginning, I was surprised that such rhetoric was so widely well-received by segments of the Republican electorate, and I was resolved to understand why.
